4th Annual Andrew Claymon Memorial Fishing Tournament brings in record number of teams

The 4th Annual Andrew Claymon Memorial Fishing tournament was held at Merritt Reservoir on Saturday, June 7th, and had a record number of 38 teams participating, which consisted of 89 youth and adult participants, competing for prizes in 3 divisions. The tournament is in memory of 16 year old Andrew Claymon who died of cancer on July 5, 2010. Results are as follows:

Division: 1 adult/1 child 10 years and younger:

1st place: Rylan and Jason Erickson; total weight of 38.39 lbs.

2nd place: Jayleigh and Jay Fuller; total weight of 17.37 lbs.

3rd place: Leah Wiechelman and Eric Noteboom; total weight of 17.20 lbs.

Division: 1 adult/1 child 11 – 17 years old:

1st place: Holden and John Hupfer; total weight of 36.31 lbs.

2nd place: Brianna Henkenius and John Nadolski; total weight of 27.92 lbs.

3rd place: Amos Hagadorn and McKeil Michalek; total weight of 27.03 lbs.

Division: 1 adult/2 children 17 years and younger:

1st place: Jacob, Morgan and Dave Ishii; total weight of 29.86 lbs.

2nd place: Dylan and Adam Naslund; total weight of 24.89 lbs.

3rd place: Callie and Courtney Hodgson and Troy Brown; total weight of 23.81 lbs.

Heaviest walleye: Leah Wiechelman and Eric Noteboom; 8.45 lbs.

Heaviest northern pike: Holden and John Hupfer; 10.94 lbs.

Heaviest largemouth bass: Grant and Ben Pavelka; 3.69 lbs.

Heaviest smallmouth bass: Ashleigh and Dan Beberniss; 2.58 lbs.

Overall heaviest fish: Holden and John Hupfer; northern pike 10.94 lbs.

Trophies, medals, fishing/camping/outdoor merchandise, cash and Cabela’s gift cards were presented to the Top 3 in each division. Additionally, each youth participant received a medal and a prize. Numerous random drawings were held from all entered teams and included: (1) a free NE Game & Parks youth lifetime hunt/fish combo permit, (2) fishing with University of Nebraska-Lincoln Husker Bass Angler team members, (3) a day of guided fishing with John Nadolski and 1 night free cabin at Merritt Resort, (4) book 1 night cabin at Merritt Resort and get the 2nd night free, and (5) two $25 gift certificates to Merritt Trading Post Resort.
